The invasion of Rocinha

The favela of Rocinha has been invaded by a contingent of 3,000 men of security forces: armored navy, federal police, civilian police and elite squad of military police in Rio de Janeiro. The biggest and symbolic favela of the city (100,000 inhabitants), located in the heart of the richest neighborhoods, fell without a single shot in less than two hours. An important step in the policy of pacification undertaken for the World Cup and 2014 Olympic Games in 2016.
