Santa Marta’s favela is experimentally occupied by the military police since early 2009, after 30 years of domination of the drug dealers & gang war. The government of Rio invested in building a cable car, to ease the access; also, a controversial wall supposed to limit and protect the near forest, and survey cameras - all this without any consultation & debates with the inhabitants of the favela. || A favela Santa Marta esta experimentalmente ocupada pela Polícia Militar desde o início de 2009, após 30 anos de dominação dos traficantes de drogas e de guerra de gangues. O governo do Rio investiu na construção de um teleférico, para facilitar o acesso, e também de um muro controverso que deveria limitar e proteger a floresta ao redor, assim como câmeras de vigilancia - tudo isso sem qualquer consulta ou debates com os moradores da favela.

Natali, 23, expecting her third child, dreaming... " When I was 15, I got pregnant. My daughter's father stayed with me until she completed one year. When I got 18, I got my second child with another man. I didn't want to stay with him because he tried to beat me. Up to now, I raised my children on my own. Now (2006) I'm 23 and I got my third child, Iago. My life has been running because I have to take care of my children. Now I have no job because my former employers sent me away when they knew I was pregnant. Now I'm looking for another job but as long as I don't find, I'm living day after day." ||Natali, 23 anos, gravida do terceiro filho, sonhando. " Fiquei gravida aos 15 anos. O pai da minha filha ficou comigo até ela completar 1 ano de idade. Aos 18 anos tive meu 2. filho com outro homem. Não quis ficar com ele porque ele tentou me bater. Criei meus filhos até agora sozinha. Agora, em 2006, aos 23 anos, tive meu 3. filho, o Iago. Minha vida ficou muito corrida porque tenho que cuidar do dia-a-dia das crianças. Por enquanto não estou trabalhando não, porque minhas patroas do ultimo emprego me mandaram embora quando souberão que eu estava gravida. Agora estou procurando outro emprego mas enquanto eu não consigo, vou levando minha vida assim."

"Du paroxysme de la violence aux sentiments les plus ingénus, de minuit à l’aube, seront ressassés tous les désirs et les peurs, les rêves de puissance et de domination, mais toujours sous le signe du jeu et de la dérision, scandés par des murs d’enceintes géantes…Contrastant avec la logorrhée des raps, le baile funk de la favela est tout en discipline, respect de l’autre.
